DTAC is the trusted name when it comes to tactile ground surface indicators (tgsi's). Don't be tempted by cheap alternatives  -  WHY? - because:

1) Tactiles need to withstand very harsh conditions. Tactile indicators are constantly exposed to heavy foot traffic, rolling loads and extreme weather conditions, especially here in Australia. Inferior products will degrade quickly.

2) Tactiles perform an important function and need to be reliable.

3) Tactile indicators need to conform to Australian standards.

4)  Tactile indicators need to provide adequate luminance contrast, as a large percentage of vision impaired pedestrians retain partial sight.

5) Tactiles must to offer consistency to avoid misinterpretation or confusion.

The team at ABS West have years of experience dealing with tactile ground surface indicators and can offer the best advice relating to your application. We have thorough knowledge of the different locations and substrates and how these variables can affect installation requirements. Contact us to discuss your requirements. We have a large range of tactiles that offer a variety of materials, finishes and dimensions. Please follow the links below to find out more...

Tactile ground surface indicators are a collection of raised dots and bars that are installed on pedestrian surfaces to aid the orientation of people who are vision impaired or blind.  For vision impaired pedestrians, tactile indicators provide greater access to the urban landscape, with increased potential for unassisted mobility. The tactile indicators can be detected by cane, felt underfoot, or even interpreted as a light contrast between a surface and a hazard, allowing the built environment to be negotiated safely. Extensive testing for slip resistance and luminance contrast has been conducted by independent bodies, which ensures peace of mind when selecting DTAC ground surface indicators. In Australia, standards are enforced to ensure clear interpretation of tactile ground surface indicators in all public spaces, thus ensuring that the experience of the vision impaired pedestrian remains consistent and non-discriminatory in the urban environment.

ABS West has exclusive distribution rights for DTAC tactile ground surface indicators in Western Australia. DTAC products are superior quality and are designed to meet the challenges of Australia's floor tactile compliance. DTAC is the trusted name in tactile indicators. The product range is crafted from hard wearing, metallic and UV stabilised polymer materials to AS/NZS 1248.4 standards.  The products conform to NCC-BCA and Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requirements.

Tactile ground surface indicators come in two main types:

The dots are individually affixed to substrate or as integrated dots or bars as one consistent mass.
